Description
Please join us for an evening of mingling and discussion about Southgate Faces: Faces and Voices from an American Shipyard. The project features portraits and brief interviews with shipbuilders from Bath Iron Works, who were asked to step into a photo booth set up across from the Yard’s Southgate during their lunch break. Sixty-seven sound portraits were collected during 17 visits over the course of a year. The impetus for the project was to break down barriers between Bath residents and the large work force that moves in and out of the city during the Yard’s 3 daily shifts.

On November 28 2018, Southgate Faces creators Heather Perry (Photographer) and Hopper McDonough (Audiographer) will present a short video about the project genesis and evolution, followed by a short question and answer session. Please join us for mingling and light refreshments from 5:30 – 6:30 pm, followed by the presentation and discussion in the theater from 6:30 – 7 pm.

The portraits and context images from Southgate Faces are featured throughout the main dining room. There is also a kiosk where audio interviews and more content can be seen and heard.
